Locks 34 and 35 on the Erie Canal

Lockport is home to Locks 35 and 34, the two western-most locks on the Erie Canal. The original 5 locks had a lift of 12 feet each for a total 60 foot rise in the Niagara Escarpment and were placed with locks 34 and 35 between 1909 and 1918 that raise and lower boats a total of 49 feet.
